ACV-Transcom and LBC are campaigning this week for the rights of agency workers in aviation. Up till now, agency workers don’t have the right to vote in the social elections in the companies they actually work in. That’s not fair!
Social elections are held every four years in Belgium in every company that has more than 50 workers. Workers elect their representatives in the works council and health & safety committees.
This week, the social affairs commission of the Belgian Federal Parliament approved a series of amendments relating to the social elections, including the right to vote for agency workers. These amendments have to pass first through the plenary and will be, once approved, published in the Belgian Monitor. This will be a great step forward for workers with precarious contracts, giving them more rights.
